Unit 1 Project - League of Nations
The League of Nations was an organization created after WWI, and its purpose was to provide a forum for resolving international conflicts. While it had its successes and failures, overall, it did not achieve its ultimate aim of avoiding another world war.
Your task for this assignment is to answer the following question:
Why was the League of Nations unable to achieve its aim of maintaining global peace?

Afterward, read the attached document below which covers many of the successes and failures of the League of Nations.
Your answer to the questions provided will likely take one of the three points of view outlined below (though this is not exhaustive).
- The League was given an impossible job. There was little it could do to prevent another war. It only had so much power.
- There was a lack of goodwill among the nations within and outside the League. Some nations didn't actually want peace, which prevented the League from doing its job.
- The League lacked effective leadership. The reason it failed is that the people involved failed to do their jobs properly.
Remember, you will only argue for one of these points of view.
You will need to support your argument with evidence. You will draw on the provided link, other course material, and document below. If you do your own research, you must cite your sources in a bibliography at the end.
Format
You can format this assignment as a slideshow or a report (with graphics). Either way, it must contain the following:
- Title page or slide
- Introduction - introduces the topic, outlines argument, and presents the thesis.
- Main body - this is where you develop your ideas with supporting evidence. It should be broken down into several unified sections.
- Conclusion - here you summarize and reinforce your main points.
Your project will include at least one map, one graph, and one photo. These should all support and clarify the argument that you are developing. Provide taglines with these graphics to explain their importance.
