2.4 Responding to Infographics



Task:

For this task you will apply the skills we’ve developed up to this point in the unit:  understanding visual texts, using in-text citations to support your ideas, and creating a works cited section for your response.  Choose one of the following infographics to examine.  Once you’ve read and understood it, respond to the question in paragraph form.  In a single paragraph, you will need to introduce your topic and respond to the question using your chosen infographic as a source for information.  Be sure to use in-text citations in your response. A works cited list is required (even though your “list” will only include one source).  Use MLA style to cite your infographic.  Click here for general guidelines on how to cite an infographic. Choose one of the infographics below. Refer to the source information for citation information.

Assessment: Below you will find the exemplary criteria used to assess the assignment.  

Learning Targets:  Exemplary (6/6):  Uses appropriate reading strategies to understand and analyze visual texts.  Explains ideas in a way that is clear, mature, and insightful. Provides evidence to support ideas and recognizes intellectual property rights by providing correctly formatted acknowledgements and in-text citations with an accurate works cited list.

Written Expression:  Exemplary (6/6):  Sentence structure and vocabulary are varied, skillfully written, and carefully chosen.  Work has been proofread and there are few or no errors in spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and grammar.  Content contributes to the central idea and makes insightful connections with logical organization.
