Assignment: Food Career Poster

Completion requirements

There are many careers directly related to food service from being a cook to a caterer. Other branches in the food industry include inspecting and processing food. There are also careers in selling and marketing food. The goal of this assignment is for you to explore and research food-related careers.

To look at a list of different careers in the industry, you can click on the Culinary Arts and Food Career guide. 

You can also visit WorkBC Explore Careers page to get details on food industry jobs in BC.

1. Choose a food-related career that interests you or you want to learn more about.

2. Create a poster illustrating and explaining aspects of this career.

Your poster will be assessed using the following criteria:

  • Title (1 mark)
  • Education & training--how long, how much, what program, etc.(2 marks)
  • Approximate salary (2 marks)
  • Job duties & responsibilities (2 marks)
  • Lifestyle factors--hours of work, travel, environmental conditions, etc. (2 marks)
  • Employment prospects--job availability in the future in BC (2 marks)
  • Images of someone doing the job--minimum 5 (5 marks)
  • References (2 marks)
  • Creativity and attractive presentation (2 marks)

Do your best to get information from Canadian sources. If your sources are from other countries, make that clear in your writing. 

Total: 20 marks
