Learning Target(s):

  • Think critically, creatively, and reflectively to explore ideas within, between, and beyond texts
  • Construct meaningful personal connections between self, text, and world
  • Understand and evaluate how literary elements, techniques, and devices enhance and shape meaning and impact
  • Respond to text in personal, creative, and critical ways
  • Use the conventions of First Peoples and other Canadian spelling, syntax, and diction proficiently and as appropriate to the context

This assignment is loosely based on Part B of the Graduation Literacy Assessment. The idea is to engage you critically and allow you to creatively communicate your personal understanding of specific aspects of the Essential Question around themes. You will answer a series of selected-response questions to the films/texts before producing a piece of writing in which you will make personal connections to aspects of the Essential Question. This personal connection invites you to express your own knowledge, experiences, and creative notions in your constructed written response. You will have a choice in your approach to writing: narration, description, persuasion, exposition, or any combination of these.
