Looking closely at the way a story represents place can reveal a lot about human relationships and different ways of understanding place and land. How can we read a variety of settings - rural, urban, interior, exterior - as enriching our understanding of the way the characters relate to their surroundings, to themselves, to each other? How does the plot structure, setting, and theme (main idea) portray a cultural identity?
