1.3 Writer's Workshop: Personal Narrative

Don't forget that for each unit you are to make a minimum of three entries that are your own. For your first unit, a couple of ideas have been offered.

4.4:  Why do we write? There are many reasons we write.  The very quality of our individual lives and our cultures depends on our ability to use language. Authentic writing comes from our desire or need to create, to communicate, to contemplate and to connect with others.  Write about your ideas and reasons for writing.

4.5:   I wanted to give you a chance to express yourself without any structured prompt. Here are 365 promptsChoose one and respond whether it's in poetic form or prose.

4.6:  Original Idea - This is your time to shine.  Develop your own original idea.  Check out the list of sources of inspiration below.

Note: These entries do NOT necessarily need to be about personal narratives.

Again here are some possible sources of inspiration:

  • point form
  • drawings
  • diagrams
  • pictures
  • explanations
  • questions
  • ideas
  • responses to readings
  • parts of a draft
  • clippings
  • poetry
  • dreams and aspirations
  • anything that you might use someday in a piece of writing

Or try a prompt or challenge from here.
