4.4 Decolonization
As you learned in this unit, Asian and African colonies had been seeking their freedom for generations, and with the European colonizing nations weakened after WWII, they made their move. Many colonizing nations did not want to give up their colonies, and transitions were fraught with difficulty. There was violence, civil wars, ethnic rivalries, and class warfare.
