Memoir - Peer Edited Draft

EDITING IS CRUCIAL
"But when it comes to killing elements of your own story, that’s so hard to do. You fiercely protect your own memories, as we all do, and the idea of cutting something out can be incredibly difficult.
Why?
Even though you have distance from the events in your memoir, it’s still a part of your experience. Most of us don’t have the objectivity needed to strip away parts of our story to find the true catalyst.
That’s where the [peer editor] comes in. Because memoirs are so personal, you need a fresh, impartial pair of eyes to help you create a stronger narrative."
For the Peer Edited Draft Assignment, we want you to find a peer from the class to edit your first draft, perhaps you can exchange editing services. Failing that, you will need to find a friend, teacher or another adult to do the peer edit. Keep in mind this is a highly personal piece of writing, and you can be the judge of who you want to share it with. Contact your teacher if you have any concerns.
For the Peer Edited Draft, your peer will need to follow the instructions on the worksheet and provide a paragraph explanation/ comments on the draft. This worksheet needs to be handed in with the first draft.
