1.3 Assignment - Practice the Skill

Required:

Create real situations to help practice positive social skills.  Make these situations as real as possible. .

  1. Situation One  -  Order a coffee at Starbucks, or a drink and shop of your choice.  Pick a time if possible when the clerk is busy.  Use your best social skills to make this situation as pleasant as possible for both you and the clerk
  2. Situation Two  -  You are very angry with your friend.  Practice using your skills at expressing your feeling while taking into account your friend's situation.  Ask your friend about how he/she feels about the situation and describe how you feel.  What approaches are most successful in attaining a positive end?  (This can be a mock disagreement if you wish with friend, sibling, parent)
  3. Situation Three  -  You show up at all the game but the coach does not give you enough game time. You are unhappy about this.  How can you best achieve a positive outcome? What skills will you use to make your point.

If these situations are not possible, substitute others that suit.  Reflect on the three situations.  Describe the situation and your interactions.  How did you feel about the interaction?  How did the other person feel about the interaction?
