Assignment - Ktunaxa
For this assignment, you will need to explain how you, as a modern teenager, will deal with the following predicament.
This morning, you woke up not in your own bed, but in the Ktunaxa winter lodge below.
The time is January of 1450 in our modern calendar, but you don't know that.
You will need to write this in first person, past tense, so it will begin something like, "When I woke up, I knew that I wasn't in my own bed..."
Start your narrative by describing your surroundings. What is your bed like? What are your surroundings? Who else is in the lodge?
For the next part of the narrative, you will need to explain all of the knowledge and skills that you will need to acquire to get through a typical winter day in this society. For now, we will assume that this family accepts you as one of their own.
To start, you will need to know the language. Since you don't know how long you will be here for, what will you need to find out about contributing to the working of the family? What will you need to know about your neighbours, the territory, water sources, animals and plants? Which tools will you need to know how to use? What cultural knowledge will you need to acquire right away? You might consider clothing, housing, and transportation.
You should be able to complete this in about one typed page or 350-500 words, but use this as a guideline rather than a goal. This is not a research assignment. You are expected to rely on what you learned in this section, but it should be just as much about coming to terms with what you don't know as what you have learned here.
