Assignment - Rapid Transportation
For this section assignment, you will be reading and responding to a magazine article published in Vox in 2015.
In this article, the author argues that Canadian and American cities developed their rapid transportation systems differently based on cultural assumptions about the nature of public transportation. You will need to read the article, linked below, understand the ideas articulated by the author, explain them from your point of view, then evaluate them.

You will write a four paragraph essay following this format:
1. Introduce the topic in three or four sentences
2. Explain the main points made in this article. You will need to make both direct and indirect references to the article. A direct reference is a quotation. If you need to review how to format quotations, reference to the following link.

3. Evaluate the points made in the article. Explain what you make of the author's ideas. You might agree with everything and explain why, disagree with everything, or agree with some points and disagree with others, in whole or part. What is important is that you explain your thinking.
4. Summarize your essay and reinforce all that you have written in a few sentences. This is where you drive your point home so that the reader understands what you think of this piece.
Keep in mind that this is a response essay, not a research essay. Your purpose is to respond to what is written here, based on what you have learned in this section of the course.
